Staying on track is easy, especially when you have a program like TLS which focuses on tasty and delicious Low Glycemic meals. When you attend a summer cookout, instead of asking the host “what should I bring”, instead say “I’m going to bring a delicious ____”. That way, you know at least one thing there is going to be healthy!
When it comes to summer favorites, a great bean salad is a fan favorite for any cookout. Simply rinse a few cans of your favorite beans. My favorites are garbanzo, kidney beans, black beans and I steam some fresh green beans also. Then mix equal parts (depending on how many cans of beans you use) extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper to taste, 1/4-1/2 of whatever you used for oil/vinegar in pure honey and drizzle over the beans.
Another one of my favorite “cheat” desserts is a TLS chocolate peanut butter cupcake. Simply mix 1 scoop of TLS shake, I prefer the chocolate nutrition shake for this recipe, with 1 egg. Add a teaspoon of natural peanut butter. In a small bowl or mug, spray with cooking spray and pour “batter” in and microwave for 1 minute. In a separate bowl, mix 1 scoop of TLS shake powder with 1 individual serving of plain greek yogurt. When your muffin comes out of the microwave, spread some of the yogurt frosting over the top.
