Kick Your Cravings With Tetris

Ever have a craving you can’t seem to kick? Well according to researchers at Plymouth University, the cure is Tetris. Yes, you read that correctly, research has proven that “playing Tetris for just three minutes can reduce the strength of cravings for food, cigarettes or alcohol”. Skeptical? Yeah, me too. According to Professor Jackie Andrade, who helped conduct the study, “by playing Tetris, just in short bursts, you are preventing your brain creating those enticing images and without them the craving fades.”

In a nutshell, the findings show that imagery plays a large role in cravings. Playing a visual game, such as Tetris, invokes cravings for imagery, and in turn, decreases food cravings.

I’m not entirely confident that this trick would work for me, but I definitely will be testing it out the next time I’m craving sweets! What do you think about this study? Is Tetris the key to kicking your cravings?
