With just a month away from what will be the best International Convention to date, we’re all thinking about how we’ll manage being away from our routines & homes for a week. How will you maintain your healthy habits while you hurry between flights & juggle everything MAIC 2019 has to offer? It’s important to have a plan, so below are some TLS tips that work for me when I’m on-the-go. I hope they work for you, too!
Set Your Plan
Whether you get to the event by plane, train or automobile, I love seeing so many people from all over at our events! But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t stressful. You have to coordinate what happens at home in your absence and coordinate your time away to stay on track! For me, I make sure I plan my days (including travel days) with healthy foods and plenty of water to keep my body as healthy as it can be.
Pack Your Travel Snacks
If you drive, there is no reason to not be able to stay hydrated and eat healthy. With a car, you have the ability to stop along the way, but other modes of transportation might not be as forgiving.
Before you head out, pack healthy snacks to begin the journey. If you are starting out early in the morning, I would recommend taking some hard-boiled eggs, fruit, veggies, or even a TLS® Nutrition shake to get your body going!
If you fly, there are restrictions to what you can or cannot bring on the plane. Plus, you may not make many friends if you start eating hard-boiled eggs on the plane. I can’t say I haven’t done that before and I might have gotten some unfriendly glances, so I tend to pack fresh fruits, vegetables, chicken roll-ups or a sandwich on whole-grain bread. I always fly with my shakes and a shaker bottle and just buy water once I am through the gate.
Stop to Stretch
Be sure to stop every couple of hours to stretch and stand up. Traveling all day means we’re not getting our NEAT up and our heart rate is settling pretty low all day long. Not to mention, long durations of sitting is not healthy for our body! If you’re driving, make a point to get out and stretch or walk when you stop for meals or snacks. Oh, and take in some sight-seeing of course!
Hit the Store
Regardless of how you arrive, you really should make it a priority to hit up a grocery store. Uber is great if you’re not renting a car and Instacart is also a great option for getting your items delivered to your hotel! Here are a few good TLS tips for stocking up:
- All hotels have ice machines, so be sure to purchase a Styrofoam cooler to keep in the room if you are unable to get a room with a refrigerator.
- Plan when you’ll be eating in the room and when you’ll be eating out. I have bought too much food before and don’t take leftovers home, so now I plan accordingly.
- The arena doesn’t allow food to be brought in from the outside, so be sure to have a healthy breakfast before entering the arena.
- Bring an empty water bottle to fill up at the fountains. If you do not have one, we’ll have some great TLS®-branded ones at the event!
Pack Your Vitamins
MAIC 2019 will bring some late nights of socializing and breakouts. There is no doubt that it’s an exhausting couple of days, but the trainings are so jam-packed with information that you don’t want to miss a thing! Make sure you’re not only fueling your body with energizing foods, but also stashing some Trim Cafe or Turn Up keep you alert and healthy! I’d also recommend packing your Bliss® and Turn Down to make sure you’re getting the rest you need.
Fit In Fitness
Trying to keep your workout routine isn’t always the easiest when you are up late and traveling, so be sure to try to fit it in before the day starts. Every hotel has a fitness center so st those alarms for a 20-minute walk on the treadmill(or a full workout if it won’t leave you too exhausted) can keep your mind sharp and your schedule consistent with your at-home routine.
Stick to Your TLS Tips!
Just because you left home doesn’t mean you left your healthy habits with you! The TLS tips you’ve learned since you began the program still apply, so make sure you’re sticking to them, When you head out for lunch and dinner to order healthy energizing foods. Keep to your normal TLS diet that is rich in protein, vegetables, healthy fats, fruits and whole grains!
We can’t wait to see you all at the event! Be sure to stop by the TLS® booth and give us some of your TLS tips for the event to stay fit and well!
