Taking Responsibility For Our Bodies

By Olivia Mungal

When we are unhappy with ourselves, one of our primary defense mechanisms is the art of making excuses. It’s much easier to push away personal responsibility for the state of your body or your health, because no one is going to hold you accountable. Not even yourself. In reality, this can make things a lot worse. With no one to keep you on track, chances are your situation will get worse and worse until the moment you decide it’s time to take action.

Use It, Or Lose It.

Although you may not be terribly happy with your body, it’s the only one you’ve got. Failing to take action could mean widening the gap in ways that are not reversible.

Making the Right Decisions Today Is Better Than Paying For the Wrong Ones Tomorrow:

We don’t have to tell you twice that obesity and an unwholesome diet have some pretty dire consequences. Saying “No” to your favorite food or working up a sweat may be uncomfortable, but we can guarantee it’s a lot less uncomfortable than chronic illness, organ failure, or death. If nothing else, your self esteem will will feel better.

No One Else Can Do It For You.

Simply put, no one is going to wave a magic wand and make all of the right choices for you. You must have the courage and the resolve to decide you’re not happy with the way you have been living, and you want help to become the best you can be. Even with guidance from others, it’s up to you to see it through.

You’re Worth It.

If you honestly don’t believe you’re worth the hard work and thoughtfulness it takes to be healthy, you’re never going to treat your body right. When it comes to being healthy, everyone is worth it.

What excuses have held you back in the past?
